Hey, I’m Melody.
I’m a Doula, Mama, Founder and Instructor at TI MOON. I am a birth companion and also give in person and online sessions and workshops to expecting parents, birth partners, new parents, and their child(ren), building on my experience in multiple disciplines including dance, pilates, mindfulness, and even boxing!
I’m a mother to two little ones and stepmother to a wonderful — albeit occasionally moody — pre-teen. I am based in South London but I am from Guadeloupe, a tiny island in the Caribbean, and grew up in the north of France.
While my own motherhood has prompted me to be part of changing the paradigm of births and become a birth educator and doula, I’ve actually been drawn to birth work since childhood! For me, being a birthkeeper is a family story, following in the steps of my mother and one of my aunties.
I trained as a doula and also in prenatal and postnatal yogatherapy and baby yoga, and I consider my own motherhood journey as daily learning and growing. I'm passionate and honoured to accompany families throughout pregnancy and as they welcome their little one(s).
As a former Campaigner and Advocacy Director at human rights organisations, I believe in the power of advocacy and utilise these skills to make sure that the birthing person’s voice is heard and their choices are respected throughout pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum.
My goal with TI MOON is for people to feel powerful, grounded, prepared, informed, to release tension, and to have fun! You can count on me to be your hype girl and remind you that you possess the innate strength, resilience, and wisdom to navigate any challenges that arise during your birthing journey.
I’m a proud member of the Red Tent Family, Neighbourhood Doulas and a Quantik Colibri.
TI MOON is an inclusive space. This is a judgement-free zone.
I accompany you and your family to bloom, at your own rhythm. During all sessions, I commit to be dedicated and present, and because I believe in the benefits of our classes, I will never rush you or your baby’s natural development process.
I am constantly learning, and I have a background in law and human rights, which is why I decided to integrate optional human rights in maternal care modules in some workshops for example. However, there are limits to my competences and I will refer you to other professionals if you need support that does not fit within my areas of expertise and training.
TI MOON is respectful, accepting, and accessible. At a time when many can feel vulnerable and isolated, we encourage a supportive community spirit, free of pressure.
My values
ti moon?
TI MOON (pronounced tee-moon) is a pun based on the word ti moun, which means children in Guadeloupean Creole, and of course the moon, which in many cultures is associated with feminine energy, maternal care, and affection. The moon’s phases also symbolise a person’s phases of learning, letting go, and growing.
“Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.”
